“The Body Remembers”: Telling Stories Through Movement
Every Body Has a Story
Before we could write, we danced. Before we could speak, we moved. The body is the oldest form of storytelling we have.
At House of Axénte, we believe dance is not just something you do — it’s something you live. Your body carries experiences, emotions, and memories. And when you dance, all of that speaks.
A step is never just a step. A pause is never just a breath. It’s a conversation — with the music, with the audience, and most importantly, with yourself.
Vulnerability as Strength
So often we are taught to hide. To keep our pain private. To present only the polished version of ourselves.
But on the dancefloor, something shifts. You move from your core, and suddenly the things you were afraid to say come pouring out. Movement becomes your language. Vulnerability becomes your power.
And in a room full of people doing the same? That’s community. That’s healing.
Don’t Just Dance — Speak
At House of Axénte, we don’t ask you to copy. We ask you to express.Tell us your joy. Your rage. Your softness. Your silence. You don’t need to “have it all together.” You just need to show up and move honestly. Because the body never lies — and the stories it tells are worth hearing.
